Solomon Sounds has joined Capitol Records as SVP of A&R. In his new position, Sounds will draw upon his broad experience as an artist manager and independent label owner to sign and develop artists for the company, as well as oversee recording projects for new and established Capitol artists.Sounds is based in Capitol’s New York offices and reports to CMG Chairman & CEO Jeff Vaughn, who commented, “Solomon’s proven instinct for identifying impactful artists and his ability to nurture their creativity aligns perfectly with our mission at Capitol. Sounds comes to Capitol after 10 years as a highly successful manager of numerous artists through his company and label, Sounds Music Group. Among his notable clients was rapper and songwriter XXXTentacion, whose meteoric career and multi-platinum success was cut short by his tragic and untimely death in 2018. After a brief hiatus from the music business following XXXTentacion’s death and a 2018 joint venture with Republic Records, Sounds resumed managing artists, achieving multi-platinum success with rapper StaySolidRocky, and secured deals for rappers ppcocaineCochise645Ar and BFB Da Packman.
