WUSL logoPower 99’s 31st annual Powerhouse concert at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center brought the heat and set records in more than a few ways.  The show, now a part of all things Philly, boasted 18 acts hitting the stage for 18,000 loyal fans. The show hasn’t had this many artists, surprise guests and celebrity hosts since Keith Sweat hosted in 1998 introducing Jay Z and DMX!!!

Meek Mill, Philly’s hometown headliner showed out for his hometown filling the stage with his “new friends” Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, French Montana and Jadakiss.  The lineup reads like a BET Awards front row with acts  such as  August Alsina, Sevyn Streeter, Yo Gotti, Mario, K Michelle, Ace Hood, Wale, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar in the building. It was a pre-jail Chris Breezy who managed to rearrange the roof like “Hurricane Who Knows.”  To add to the anticipation of the event, calm prevailed as the public Twitter spat between Kendrick and Meek Mill which fans thought would come to a head at the show was quickly squashed. It was clearly revealed as a publicity prank when Meek confirmed in a backstage interview that the “competition” is friendly and both laugh about it.  This proves that most hip hop beef is nothing but creamed and chipped!  Congrats to DC Corbett and the Clear Channel Philadelphia team for a successful event.
