Markell Clay

Markell Clay

On a recent road trip through Macon, GA, a new artist by the name of Markell Clay was brought to my attention. I can easily say this Philadelphia-based prodigy is a combination of talent, passion and creativity.  While clearly his own man, he’s a bit of Usher, Chris Brown, Miguel and Mario. He’s made of all things music that make him the total package. He sings dances and writes “real” songs with a large dose of humility. Markell’s musical journey started at a very early age and lead to his acceptance to the prestigious Governor’s School of Performing Arts in Virginia while he attended Norfolk State University.  Shortly thereafter, Markell was signed to a publishing deal as a writer prior to being signed as an artist. It’s pretty safe to bet that when the “A “ list producers are impressed enough to seek you out  based on your writing skills and offer  a publishing deal, you have garnered a space on the fast track.   Since his performance on BET’s 106th& Park, Markell’s debut single “Magic” debuted on the charts this week with a strong presence. WFXM P.D Talus Knight, an early believer in “Markell’s Magic” adds “Markell is simply a super talented young man with the turn up to match.  I predict we’ll see a lot more of him in the future.” I agree.
