Atlanta based emo rapper Kota is nothing short of an eclectic soul. The 28 year old is a lifelong musician, picking up the guitar and drums as a child and always having a well balanced ear for hip-hop and heavy metal. Born Joseph Dakota Moss in Germany, this military brat relocated to the small town of Twin Cities, Georgia where he was raised. After graduation high school, he served in the Air Force, and was stationed in Japan. He’s traveled the world though his military service, highlighting being stationed throughout south east Asia.

Although the armed forces weren’t quite ideal for him, his wild child days as a youth is what fuel his music. Kota member of Schemaposse, the music collective formed by JGRXXN. Home to a variety of rappers, musicians, singers, and producers, Schemaposse has grown to be a pillar in the SoundCloud rap sub genre. In the past, the collective has provided a platform for artists such as Craig Xen, Ghostemane, and of course the late great Lil Peep. In 2020, the collective resurfaced following a hiatus with all new members. Several of the new and old members are PALM interview alumni including Kold-Blooded, Mr. Sisco, JGRXXN, Akatami, and Lil XAV. It was dope getting to know Kota and hearing his story of how the young musician found community through his craft, is currently studying mixing and mastering, and has dreams of one day opening a tattoo parlor / recording studio.

Kota also shared some of Schemaposse’s discrepancies with underground rap powerhouses $uicideboy$, Pouya, and Fat Nick.
