Through the small world of underground L.A. hip-hop, it’s only right (no-pun intended 😂) that Ray Wright stop by PALMCAST to share his story. The 31-year old rapper and singer started off his career as a part of the group Warm Brew signed to Red Bull records. Early on Warm Brew caught the attention of Leimert Park legendary emcee Don Kennedy. From there at and the rest of Warm Brew became part of Dom’s OPM (Other People’s Money). Growing up wasn’t easy for Ray. Although raised by a single mother whom passed away right before he turned 18, he still managed to make it through school and even became a college athlete. However he gravitated to music and excelled in the arts. After touring as a part of the L.A. rap group Warm Brew and releasing two albums through Red Bull records, Wright began to work on his craft as a solo artist. He released his debut solo EP III Decades in 2020, and his debut solo album NOMAD in April 2021. Ray Wright has collaborated with an assortment of dope artists including Wiz Khalifa, G Perico, Dom Kennedy, Desto Dubb, Jay Worthy, Hugh Augustine, and Polyester the Saint. It was a pleasure to get to know Ray as he filled me in on his new company Chess & Co, and he plans to drop an herbal tea line in the near future.
