Radio Milwaukee’s new Urban Alternative station HYFIN (WYMS-HD2) shared the names of the on-air talent that will be a part of the new channel that is launching on Juneteenth (Sunday, June 19) — Element Everest-Blanks, one of the original voices of Triple A sister WYMS (88Nine) and Anthony Foster will each host shows on HYFIN, alongside HYFIN PD Tarik Moody, who remarked, “Anthony and Element both greatly exemplify the spirit and mission of HYFIN. Their passion and commitment to the community make them the perfect voices for our channel.”

From June 19 until July 3, HYFIN will roll jockless with the exception of Moody’s shift. Beginning July 4, the full-time HYFIN weekday schedule looks like this — 6am-noon: The Morning Mix (un-hosted); Noon-3pm: Anthony Foster; 3-9pm: Element Everest-Blanks; 9pm-midnight: Tarik Moody (simulcast on WYMS-HD1 & HD2); Midnight-3am: un-hosted (simulcast on WYMS-HD1 & HD2). HYFIN will also be un-hosted on the weekends and will be simulcast on WYMS-HD1 seven days a week from 9pm-3am.

Everest-Blanks was part of 88Nine’s original on-air staff when it launched in 2007. She returned to the station as a part-timer last September and will continue to host Saturdays from noon-3pm. Everest-Blanks will also serve as HYFIN’s Brand Ambassador, working to create on-air and online content and build relationships within the community. Foster will continue to host 6-9am Saturdays on 88Nine in addition to his HYFIN on-air responsibilities, and Chris Alexander, currently on-air on 88Nine Sundays from noon-3pm, will offer programming support for HYFIN.

In addition to the three on-air roles, Radio Milwaukee has also hired Darron “DJ” Brüwer as HYFIN’s Community Engagement Coordinator. Brüwer is an entrepreneur who most recently operated his own social media firm, F2 Social. Additional imaging on HYFIN is provided by the voices of Alesia Miller, Lauren Feaster and Kia Rap Princess. Moody noted, “We are creating HYFIN for all of Milwaukee, but specifically Black women, who are underserved by media and culture in our city. It was important to me to make sure that this audience heard themselves on HYFIN immediately in our imaging.”
