After a 72-hour loop of Q-Tip‘s 1999 Grammy-nominated hit “Vivrant Thing,” Max Media Hampton Roads makes it official and flips WVHT (Hot 100.5)/Norfolk from Top 40 to the all-new 100.5 The
Vibe. The new station, described as “the first Urban Adult Hits station of its kind” launched Monday, June 20 at 5pm ET.

“We’re excited to bring a unique, new radio format to Hampton Roads,” said Eddie Haskell, VP of Ops & Programming for Max Media Hampton Roads. “We will be playing a massive playlist of Urban, R&B, Classic Hip-Hop, and Classic Soul in the spirit of the Adult Hits format. A ton of variety, not only in title count but musical styles. Because, why not?”

Anthony “Tone Hollywood” Wheeler, longtime fixture with SummitMedia Greenville, SC and most recently midday personality on Urban AC juggernaut WJMZ (107.3 JAMZ) has been tapped as Brand Manager of the new 100.5 The Vibe. Hollywood remarked, “757 music lovers — we have exactly what you’ve been looking for — a station that plays basically everything! All of the hits that you grew up on and love! One listen to our playlist, and you will say ‘WOW! This is a VIBE!'”
