Hip-Hop Coach Comments A Bust

Twitter was buzzing this week after the Dallas Morning News tweeted a negative reference to newly appointed Texas Longhorns coach Charlie Strong “not being a Hip-Hop coach”.  Strong is the first black man to hold the position.  Specifically the headline, which featured a slideshow said:

“Why he’s not a hip-hop coach; 10 things you might not know about new Texas Longhorns coach Charlie Strong. What is a hip-hop coach?   Code:  He’s a safe pick. Supposedly the “hip hop coach” comment originated in 2010 from a quote from ESPN analyst Lou Holtz.  Holtz’s grandson is on the Longhorn’s team. Our young men can run up and down the football field, but they are not respected enough to have the best coaching job in the county!

The Longhorns have lots of fans including Beyonce.  She was spotted this summer in a hot bikini sporting a Longhorns t-shirt.   The irony of all of this is Strong has a white wife.  I saw a blog that said “Ladies, I know you are still hatin on Tiger Woods, MJ and Kobe but Coach Strong and his family are going to need our support.  A winning record will put all of this to rest.
