Angelo Henderson

Radio One/Detroit has reported the passing of one of the Motor City’s iconic on-air personalities and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Angelo B. Henderson. Henderson was with Radio One/Detroit for 15 years and was the host of the popular talk show Your Voice with Angelo Henderson on Newstalk AM1200/99.9FM WCHB for the past 6 years. He died of natural causes at age 51.

“Angelo was a strong pillar in the community. I am saddened by his untimely passing and he will be greatly missed by the entire Detroit community and his Radio One Detroit family,” said VP/GM Kathy Stinehour.

Also known as “Rev. Angelo,” having been ordained in ministry by Dr. Charles G. Adams in December 2003, Henderson was the Director of Community Outreach at Triumph Church. He was also an active proponent for the betterment of the Detroit community, the co-founder of The Detroit 300, and he was named one of the “Men of Excellence 2011” by the Michigan Chronicle. Most recently he was honored as the 2013-2014 “Humanitarian of the Year” by My Sister’s Keeper, a non-profit that helps battered women shelters.
