D.L. Gets Dumped

Little more than six months after the debut of the syndicated D.L. Hughley Show, has its’ first casualty by being swiftly removed from the airwaves of Crawford Broadcasting’s Chicago 106.3/ WSRB-FM/. Former WGCI-FM DJ Mike Love is the new live and local afternoon drive host. “Bad Boy Radio with Mike Love” airs weekdays 2pm-6pm.  Earlier this month, WSRB-FM eliminated the D.L. Hughley Show from their line-up. Alleged sources claim the decision was due to ongoing contract disagreements and failure to “reach” an agreement with the show’s syndicator, Reach Media. Those factors coupled with a large dose of “divo” behaviour can be a sure-fire recipe for disaster. We can only wonder if this is the return of the syndications curse. And, as in the case of Baisden, do PD’s have a replacement in the wings that ready to stick and move, in the event “something goes down” in their respective market(s)??
