Tamara Wingerter, National and General Sales Manager for WJZD-Biloxi, Rocks!  She is the “brainchild” behind the station’s 3rd Annual Summer Reading program for kids 5 to 12 years old.  Tamara says when her 8 year old started losing his enthusiasm for reading; she had to put a plan together. “My kids loved to read,” she said. “But when I saw my eight year old son’s interest declining, I decided to reward him for the books he read.  It worked like a charm”. That was four years ago.  So Tamara decided to do a summer reading program for the station which has been a major success. The program is sponsored by national and local sponsors including Dasani, Mississippi Power, Raising Cane’s and several local participants. The reading program runs through July 31.Kids pick up their reading logs from participating sponsor locations and prizes include food and amusement park tickets.  Tamara says urban stations are unsurpassed in their ability to attract an upscale urban consumer.  “With our music and our strong connection with the audience and community involvement, we have the perfect marketing tool for our advertisers,” she saysAll Smiles WJZD Reading Program DJ Mixx Maestro WJZD Reading Program
