Meet Music Choice’s Joe Dodd

Meet Joe Dodd; Joe is the Associate Manager of Programming/Program Director of Urban Formats for Music Choice.  In his role, Joe oversees all urban audio channels and video formats.  “We encourage people to submit their music to us regardless of being indie or mainstream. From there I review it with the urban programming team and we decide if it is a good fit on our channels or not,” says Joe.

Joe expressed his passion in music at a very young age. One of the earliest examples include him recording songs on a recordable cassette player while in fourth grade and working as an audio engineer at church during his teenage years. As a junior in college, he received his first real exposure to the music industry by becoming a College Representative for Hustle Period Entertainment. He was later able to travel and relocate to New York City after graduation through a college externship program. Since then, he has held roles in audio engineering, music archiving, and product management for various music labels. He also taught media research as a graduate student and presented his thesis at the New York State Communication Association (NYSCA) Conference. Since arriving at Music Choice, he has worked his way up from Assistant to Associate Manager.  Joe is a Chicago native and currently resides in New York City with his wife.
