The LA PD still aren’t sure what sparked a Hollywood nightclub shooting that left former music kingpin Marion “Suge” Knight shot several times.

No known suspects or persons of interest have been identified.

The shooting happened at 1:30 a.m. Sunday during a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party thrown by Chris Brown at a trendy Los Angeles nightclub. The rap mogul, 49, walked out of the West Hollywood hotspot 1Oak after reportedly being shot six times. He was loaded onto a stretcher and taken to a hospital along with two others injured by bullets. Some reports say Knight and Brown had gotten into an argument.

Video taken inside the club captured the shots. Amid the chaos and confusion, party goers ducked for cover.

Thomas Clark witnessed the shooting. “Before I knew it, everyone ran and I got on the floor,” he said.

Video showed Brown on top of a table after the shooting — furious at what had taken place, according to witnesses. Club goers raced out the door, holding their hands up as sheriff’s deputies stood guard with guns drawn.

Authorities were still trying to figure out what caused the shooting, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Jeff Gordon said. “At this time we’re not even sure if Marion Knight was the intended target,” Gordon said. “And the other two appear, from their gunshot wounds, they may have been just trying to get out of harm’s way.”

Brown’s representatives released a statement following the shooting. “This incident did not involve Chris,” the statement read. “He has and will continue to cooperate with the investigation.”

This isn’t the first time Knight — famous for working with such artists as Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre — has been injured at a pre-VMAs party. He also was shot in the leg at a party in Miami Beach, Florida, in 2005
