Def Jam Upps Bill Evans to VP

Promotion veteran Bill Evans has been promoted to VP/Urban Promotion for Def Jam Recordings by EVP/Urban Promotion Rodney Shealey.

Evans will help manage and support Def Jam’s national field staff, and will work closely with Shealey to orchestrate the successful roll-out of new record releases to all Urban radio formats, including Mainstream and Urban AC.  He will also oversee the development and execution of all national radio and advertising campaigns, while continuing to work closely with his Pop and Rhythm counterparts as well as the marketing staff.

“Bill is a talented and consummate music man who has served at every level of Def Jam, in multiple local and regional markets, and it is an honor to announce his extremely well-deserved promotion,” said Shealey.

“Def Jam has the richest and most envied history of any hip-hop label in the world,” said Evans. “I am thrilled to play my part in extending that vision.  I look forward to continuing to work and learn alongside Steve Bartels, Rodney Shealey and the incredible Def Jam staff.”
