Smooth Jazz returns to the city of brotherly love this week with the flipping of Urban Oldies WDAS-AM (1480) to Smooth Jazz WJJZ. Word is former CCE/ WJJZ personalities are also scheduled to return to the station airwaves. Clear Channel Philadelphia OM Derrick “DC” Corbett says, “It’s an honor to be able to reintroduce smooth jazz and the ‘JJZ brand back to Philadelphia and having a veteran on board like Michael Tozzi only makes this move that much bigger.  The best is yet to come.” And with that said, trust and believe nothing else is changing… including  across the hall at WDAS-FM! Across the country, Kris Bennett Broadcasting has announced the return of the smooth jazz format to the Sea-Tac (Seattle) airwaves via the Smooth Jazz Network/1560 KZIZ-AM (“Jazzy Z”) and Internet streaming.  After a few programming adjustments moving  the Gospel format currently  on 1560 down the dial 1420 AM  frequency, reducing the Blues programming to make room for  talk shows Community Potpourri and  Rev. Al Sharpton Show, an abandoned void for adult listeners has clearly been filled. The Smooth Jazz network has added format veterans Dave Koz and Kenny G to the on-air lineup.  Is everything old (and abandoned) becoming new again???
