Beenie Siegal (2)Rapper Beanie Sigel (born Dwight Grant), formerly of Jay Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, was shot in the stomach this past Friday morning in front of his Pleasantville, New Jersey home. Upon returning from taking his children to school an altercation of some type ensued near Sigel’s property which resulted in him being wounded.

Another man was reportedly injured during the altercation, but refused to cooperate with the police and sources say Grant was not the intended victim. The Philadelphia-based rapper was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition after surgery.

Beanie Sigel’s last album with Roc-A-Fella was “The Solution” in 2007. In August, he was released after serving more than two years in federal prison for tax evasion. According to the federal Bureau of Prisons, his probation was scheduled to end on Saturday.

Sigel had his eye on a music comeback and was scheduled to perform on Dec. 18 at a concert titled “Beanie Sigel: The Return” at Philadelphia’s Theater of the Living Arts.

Sigel continues to recover and we wish him well.
