Jill Scott Got Married

The Grammy-winning singer and actress married Mike Dobson Saturday night, according to several photos and videos posted by Dobson’s friend. DJ Mars’s posts showed several images and clips from the wedding, all of which featured Scott in a plunging white gown.

“This wedding made my summer!” Mars captioned one of his Instagram posts. “I’ve known Mike for almost 20 years, but dude could have alluded to the fact that he was marrying Jill Scott(lol)! All he said was, u are working with her in Vegas. He’s a total class act, he won with the wedding! #djmarsapproved.”

Mars also told followers that he was in charge of the groom’s surprise: a live performance by legendary Grammy-winning rapper Big Daddy Kane. “So, Mike Dobson called me and said, ‘I’m going to surprise my wife during the reception and have Big Daddy Kane perform,'” Mars captioned one video. “He then says,’Mars you call Kane to work it out’. So I’m gassed because I’m on the phone strategizing with arguably one of the best rappers period (top 5 of anyone’s list)! Me and Big Daddy Kane on the phone, I’m geeked! No one knew but me and the husband knew he was about to perform. Dude walks in and they didn’t even recognize him until he starts rapping. This is Scott’s second marriage. She was married to DJ Lyzel Williams for nearly six years, but the couple divorced in 2007. She was previously engaged to Lil’ John Roberts. Scott and Roberts have a son, Jett, 7.
