dj-young-musicDJ Young Music is emerging as a mainstay in the music industry and on the streets of metro DC. DJ Young Music has established a track record for being “the youngest to” do whatever he sets his mind to.  A triple threat mogul in the making (deejay, producer and songwriter) one short year ago at age 18,  became the youngest to sign a worldwide distribution deal with eOne Entertainment Group.

While most of his peers are entrenched in bumping current hip hop and R&B however, DJ Young Music chose to move into the slow jamz “slow lane” simply because nobody else is doing it nor have they taken the time to perfect the skill to master the “slow jam.” He says, “to most people, it is a new platform. I want to bring to this skill of mixing slow jamz which is not easy. I want to establish and open a new lane and set a new trend, not start a fad.”

dj-young-music-show-logoIt’s high time that the world gets to know the best thing to come out of DC since Go-Go and The Obamas….Introducing DJ Young Music in this edition of The Urban Buzz…..Buzz Five! DJ Young Music speaks on…..

  1.  Opportunity

As I was starting out in the game, I got a call to DJ a spot date for a Chris Brown show. I seized the opportunity and committed to give it everything I had …..to give it my absolute best! Chris heard the crowd reaction and came out to see what was happening. He was impressed at how I captivated the crowd and from that one spot date, it evolved to my being Chris Brown’s opening act.

2.  Goals

In the short term, my goal is to of course, be the best I can be while I expand this slow jamz platform. My experience as a producer has shown me how challenging it can be to get airplay for a ballad. “Streetz Slow Lane,” will provide opportunity for new artists with ballads but at the same time, I cannot ignore the classic artists such as The O’Jays, Anita Baker, Luther Vandross, Earth Wind & Fire or Aretha Franklin who are architects of the platform to provide opportunity as well. So many new artists use samples of these legends so it’s only the right thing to do and play their music too.

3.  Why I Want To Be Like Diddy

I have followed Diddy for years. He put in the work! I admire the fact that he does not limit himself…. he’s an executive, an artist, an entrepreneur, clothing designer and then some. He has vision and he takes risks. I feel if I parallel his journey, there is no limit!!…..I am a DJ, producer, songwriter, beat master and radio personality with more to come!!

4.  I Decided To Become An Activist Because

I wanted to find a way to honor a good friend who lost his life to violence at a young age and keep his memory alive. I became an activist by launching my 501© 3 “Streetz Stop The Violence” initiative to make my peers aware that they do have alternatives to the streets and show them ways to pursue and achieve their goals. There are some youth that feel defeated and need to be uplifted and use their voices in a positive way. Society may say one thing but I say, a possibility plus determination can equal success!

5.  What’s Next For DJ Young Music…..

I am working with Superadio to acquire more affiliates, releasing new slow jamz mixtapes and remixes, introducing my artist, Shade Jenifer to a wider audience, cultivating other new artists and spreading the message of music in hopes that the national audiences will appreciate Urban music and artists as much as international audiences have been doing for years. I am focused on resurrecting and creating a buzz for the “Quiet Storm” format that has unfortunately been abandoned by so many radio stations.

Being a part of the Superadio family is very exciting and it is a true blessing to be working with a team that believes in me,” said DJ Young Music. People turn up most of the time. You can’t turn up all the time. We all need to slow down; bump ballads and mid-tempos every now and then. So please, sit back, relax and allow me to take you down ‘Streetz! Slow Lane.

Eric Faison, Superadio Vice-President of Affiliate Relations adds “DJ Young Music is one of the most talented, focused and grounded young men that I have come across in a long time. We are happy and blessed to be a part of his journey. He knows what young adults want to hear late nights and is the perfect choice to provide the soundtrack.”
