If you have ever at any point in your life called yourself a hip-hop head, you need to hear this final album from A Tribe Called Quest! There isn’t much to say except that Q-Tip and the late Phife Dawg come with the same energy and delivery that they did back in the 90s. Now by no means would I call myself a die hard Tribe fan. However, this was a must listen to and you are doing yourself a disservice if you don’t check out We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service.

The whole album is top notch from start to finish. A Tribe Called Quest still delivers their classic sound along with some modern political themes. The second track “We The People…,” Q-Tip raps and sings about the minorities of America being alienated under president-elect Donald Trump’s ideologies. Not to mention the closing track on here is literally called “The Donald.” By far my favorite song is “Kids…” simply for the chemistry Andre 3000 and Q-Tip share. One might call this collaboration ‘every rap fan’s dream.’ Throw in some guest appearances from Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar, and Busta Rhymes and you’ve got yourself possibly the best hip-hop release of 2016. I like the extra terrestrial feel that the record has all throughout. The dialing in noise although startling provides a nice effect. Socially conscious lyrics, all-star guest appearances, organic production with live instrumentation, yep A Tribe Called Quest leaves the game on We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service at 5/5 PALMs!
