Elroy Smith: On R&B Radio Music

ENTERCOM SAN FRANCISCO: KBLX/KRBQ, FROM THE DESK OF OPERATIONS DIRECTOR & PROGRAM DIRECTOR ELROY R.C. SMITH

There are periods of time that formats go through a drought of not having great music. To date, if you are an Urban AC programmer, you should be celebrating. Why? The music is healthy, hit oriented, emotional, and has longevity. In no particular order; here are my top (10) picks, thus far, this year:

Permission/Ro’ James (An ac urban classic that still sounds fresh a year later)

Location/Khalid

Until The Pain Is Gone/Daley & Jill Scott

Calling All My Lovelies/Bruno Mars (Album Pick)

Before I Do/Sevyn Streeter

That’s What I Like/Bruno Mars

Don’t Go/Kevin Ross

Redbone/Childish Gambino

Runnin Out/After Seven

Love Galore/SZA

From one Program Director to all of you, “Happy programming!”
