Hitting The Road

R-O-A D T-R-I-P!!!!Before I boarded the airplane, I ran into Chubb Rock who still lives up to his name! He “rocks” the mic in concert and on-air at Atlanta’s WAJM. Shout out to Chubb for his volunteer work with the Wounded Warrior Project.” He’s a prime example of showing appreciation for the sacrifice and service of our military warrior and their families.

On August 3, the 14^th annual Jus’ Blues Conference and Awards brought out the “royalty” of Southern Soul to Memphis, TN.  Bobby Rush, Millie Jackson, Lattimore, Denise LaSalle and others came out to support 2013 Entertainer of the Year, Willie Clayton and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Lenny Williams.  The organization is committed to promoting Blues music’s cultural heritage and preservation by “Nurturing the Soul of the Blues” among youth and performing artists nationwide and around the world. Shout out to Brother Mitchel and Allen J!!

Phun in Philly:  It’ s always a pleasure to visit places you love to see folks you know that can also be called  friends. WDAS was a stop early in my radio career. Under the tutelage of Butterball and Patty Jackson, I learned, I learned, learned!! Fast forward to 2013, Patty rules the airwaves, my “hermanita” Mina is in great hands and  DC Corbett is a stellar leader, as evidenced in the recent PPM . An ingredient in the seasoning of his “sauce for success” is the Thursday night “Old School” Quiet Storm…..it will definitely “take you there!”
