J Lo and Ryan

American Idol star Jennifer Lopez and host Ryan Seacrest™ have joined forces to executive-produce a new NBC police drama. Deadline.com reports that NBC has given a 13-episode straight-to-series order to Shades Of Blue, which will also star Lopez as “Harlee McCord,” a single mother and detective who has been recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force. And here’s the really dramatic part, as breathlessly described by Deadline.com, “Part of a close-knit unit known for its conviction record, Harlee has become compromised by her colleagues — all of whom also pitch in to help her raise her daughter — and finds herself faced with the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.” We just mentally set our DVRs.
Deadline says the show will go into production next year, timed to debut for the 2015-16 mid-season. Lopez and Seacrest executive produce Shades of Blue with Nina Wass, Adi Hasak, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina for Universal Television, Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions, Ryan Seacrest Productions (RSP), EGTV and H’s Films. This will mark the first drama series from Ryan Seacrest Productions, which has been very successful in the reality series space. RSP’s first scripted series, the ABC comedy Mixology premieres next week.
