Unlike many radio “new jacks” Crumbley arrived in sunny Florida weeks prior to his first day in the building to learn the city, the people and the way of life in “the 904.” This Philadelphia native and Fisk University alum is also a proud graduate of Joe “Butterball” Tamburro’s “WDAS University School of Radio” where community engagement was a compulsory element of the curriculum. Crumbley smiles saying “I learned early in my career from Butterball that being able to connect with the listeners is one of the most important things you ever do and that principle is also part of the Cox philosophy. For me, it’s exciting to be in Jacksonville and back on the air doing afternoon drive.” This is not Steve’s first stint behind the mic in central Florida. His first programming/on-air gig was at Orlando’s legendary WORL.
WHJX PD Clarence Natto said it best in just a few words, “I predict great things will occur with Steve on the team. There’s not much more to be say.” Mr. Natto is straight to the point and without hesitation, I concur as do recent PPM’s.
