JP KelloggMany people from various aspects in the industry strive to reinvent themselves for the “life after,” but those who have done it as well as John P. Kellogg are on a short list. Some may remember him from this days as a member of Cameo while others may be musically well acquainted with his celebrity clients such as the late Gerald Levert, Eddie Levert, LSG, Walter Beasley and many others.

Since his departure from Cameo, he’s received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, a Master of Science degree in Television and Radio at Syracuse University and the Newhouse School of Communication and his Juris doctor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.  He currently serves as Assistant Chair of Music Business/Management Department at Boston’s Berklee College of Music where he has developed a free online course, “Introduction to the Music Business.”  Kellogg’s course is the first on the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform to focus on Music Business.  Although the six-week course started on January 27, 2014, there is still time to sign up and catch up. Kellogg’s course will cover such topics such as the proliferation of 360-degree deals, the value of the copyright, the importance of live performance and more.
