Jay Z and Kanye West reunited as co-producers of Top Five, a film starring Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson and Gabrielle Union. Rock serves as director and also stars in the film. Rock also wrote Top Five, whose plot line is about a comedian trying to make it as a serious actor when his reality-TV star fiancé talks him into broadcasting their wedding on her TV show.
After a successful showing at the recent Toronto International Film Festival, Paramount Pictures obtained distribution rights to the film for $12m, with a further commitment to spend $20m on marketing. Studio executives feel Top Five is “a film broad and filthy enough for mass appeal.”(talk amongst yourselves for that one!)

Jay Z has produced several other films, including the forthcoming Annie, as well as 2013’s The Great Gatsby and the 2012 documentary Free Angela and All Political Prisoners, while Kanye’s film production credits focus on projects tied to his music, including 2005’s Kanye West: College Dropout – Video Anthology and 2008’s Kanye West Homecoming Special.
