The countdown is on for the premiere of the new Starz original series “Power,” from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and writer Courtney Kemp Agboh (“The Good Wife”) on Saturday, June 7th at 9 p.m. (EST).
This New York based crime drama straddles the two different worlds, the glamorous New York club scene and the brutal drug trade operated by the show’s star Omari Hardwick. LaLa Anthony, Naturi Naughton and soap star Debi Morgan round out the cast.
50’s new music video for “Big Rich Town,” a created specifically for the show will serve as the main title theme. “For me the musical component of ‘Power’ is so important; I wanted to let the music speak to the viewers as they are watching the show and being able to create the theme song, ‘Big Rich Town,’ was crucial as it sets the tone of the show,” says 50. “The audience will also get the chance to hear additional music off my latest album, ‘Animal Ambition’, as the theme of the album translates into events portrayed in the show.” “Animal Ambition” drops on June 3 and the lead single “Smoke” f/ Trey Songz has already cracked the Top 20 of mainstream Urban chart. In this case, ambition and power are clearly a good thing.(Is “Power” on track to be a modern day version of “New York Undercover” but better?)
